Phoenixx and GAMEPULSE are excited to announce the launch of their highly anticipated 2D bullet hell action game, Touhou Hero of Ice Fairy, on the Nintendo Switch. This fan-made Touhou Project game will take players on an epic journey through the mystical world of Gensokyo, where they will play as Cirno, the Hero of Ice, on a mission to save the kidnapped princess of the Misty Lake from the clutches of the mysterious Nightmare Miko.
The game, set to launch in 2024, promises to be a fast-paced and thrilling experience for fans of the Touhou series. Travel through Touhou’s iconic locales such as the Silent Village and Kapparena on the Bunny Train, and gather allies to aid in your rescue mission. But beware, the kidnapping may not be as simple as it seems, with a twist in the plot that will keep players on the edge of their seats.
As the Hero of Ice, players will face off against a variety of enemies and obstacles, using a continuous stream of bullet hell attacks to defeat them. With each level, the challenge increases as players must navigate through deadly laser beams, falling stars, and giant moons. And as if that wasn’t enough, keep an eye on Cirno’s stamina meter, which drains with every advanced movement, adding an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay.
But it’s not all just about dodging and attacking. As players progress through the game, they will build up Cirno’s Courage Meter, which multiplies damage with each successful hit. This feature will come in handy when facing off against Nightmare Miko’s fierce fairies, ghoulish ghosts, and other magical creatures. And with each opponent’s battle stage, players can unlock new spells and items to aid them on their journey.
A standout feature of Touhou Hero of Ice Fairy is the jazzy lo-fi music that accompanies each boss’s unique theme. From remixes of popular Touhou Project songs to the game’s original music, players can turn up the jukebox on the Bunny Train and jam out to their favorite tracks while taking on their enemies. And with three modes to choose from – Arcade, Practice, and Challenge – players can either focus on the story, hone their skills, or replay their favorite boss battles.
