Explosive side-scrolling shoot ’em up and sequel to the critically-acclaimed Valfaris launches 29 August on Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox
Get ready to unleash metal mayhem as Valfaris: Mecha Therion blasts its way onto consoles later this month. Developed by Steel Mantis and published by Big Sugar, this highly anticipated side-scrolling shoot ’em up will be available for download on Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S starting August 29th.
But that’s not all, as a brand new arcade-style Challenge Mode will be included with the console versions of Valfaris: Mecha Therion. And for those who have already experienced the intense gameplay on PC, you won’t be left out as the Challenge Mode will also be released as a free update on August 26th.
For those unfamiliar with the Valfaris franchise, Valfaris: Mecha Therion is the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed action-platformer Valfaris, which was ranked #16 Best PC Game of 2019 by Metacritic. The game follows the relentless protagonist, Therion, as he pilots a massive metal colossus on his epic pursuit of the diabolical Lord Vroll.
But this time, Therion harnesses the power of the ultimate weapon – the Mecha Therion. With this advanced machine of death and destruction, players will navigate through hostile alien territories and engage in explosive combat with a variety of weapons, including Therion’s trademark Hellwraith minigun that shoots tormented souls.
Players can expect an action-packed experience as they fight through multiple levels and master an array of Destroyer, Melee, and Auxiliary class weapons. And for those who love to customize, the Mecha loadout can be configured with different weapon combinations, using Blood Metal earned in-game to upgrade and add-ons.
In addition to the thrilling campaign mode, players can also test their skills and endurance in the newly added Challenge Mode. This arcade-style test allows players to aim for high scores and compete with friends for the ultimate bragging rights.
